Woman converts DHHR office into undersea environment with custom-made decorations

If you’ve walked into the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHR) in Weston, you probably noticed the artwork decorating the lobby.
The theme is “Under the Sea,” but artist and DHHR employee Jennifer Bailey said soon she will change it to an autumn theme.
“I usually do all the seasons,” she said.
Bailey has worked at DHHR as a custodian for 10 years, and has been decorating the lobby ever since. Self described decorating nut, she uses her own money to purchase items which she then uses to create the art that is used in the lobby. No state funds go towards the artwork.
Bailey said children love it, and it gives them something to focus on while they are waiting on parents to fill out forms.
“I make it so it’s kid friendly. I think it makes a nice environment.”
Bailey has also decorated for weddings and showers, but said right now she mainly decorates the lobby. She plans to change the theme in roughly two weeks.
