Willowdean “Billie” Harris, 74, of Camden Avenue, Weston, passed away at 8:41 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017, in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston following an extended illness.
She was born in Glenville on March 21, 1943, a daughter of the late Worthy Emerel Straley and Lena Pearl Radcliff Straley.
On October 27, 1967, she married Thomas Richard Harris who will miss her dearly after 49 years of marriage.
Her strong, independent nature will be carried on by her two children: Thomas E. Harris, and Eric S. Harris, and wife, Carol, all of Weston; three grandchildren: Sean Harris, Rachel Harris Zimmerman, and Emma Harris; three step-grandchildren: Casandra Case, Michael Smith, and Brandon Smith; two great grandchildren: Landin and Elijah Case; five siblings: Mary E. Lynch and husband Bill, of Lewes, DE, Esta “Beth” Yaneris and husband, Joe, of Kersey, PA, Beverly Straley and husband, J.R., of Jane Lew, Worthy Nile Straley of Weston, and Rodney Lynn Straley of Weston; brother-in-law, Pat Harris and wife, Wilma; sister-in-law, Becky Stout and husband, Mackey; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rachel and Charles Harris; and daughter-in-law, Christine Harris.
In 2006, Billie retired from the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital where she worked as a LPN for 27 years and a purchasing agent for 16 years. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, flower gardening, and spending time with her family.
Friends and family gathered for a Graveside Service at the Snyder Cemetery in Churchville at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, with Reverend Wilma Harris officiating.
