William (Bill) Russell Smith, 62, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017.
He was born in Weston, WV, on May 9, 1955, to Wilma (Taylor) and Adrian Smith. He met the love of his life Linda Konopko and was married September 13, 1980.
Bill served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army, from 1986 through 1997, in the First Calvary Infantry Division. He was involved in Operation Desert Storm and won several medals and awards. After his enlistment ended, he worked for and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2014.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed being with his family. He liked watching war movies and relaxing at the Mathews family home, watching his great-grandchildren play. He was a very special man and was adored by all.
Bill is survived by daughter Tina (William) Mathews, grandchildren Karrie (Ceeton) Pfantz, Michael (Chelsea) Mathews, Dairrian Mathews and Christopher Hanson. Great-grandchildren Adrian and Kaedence Huffman, Ceeton (Reece) Pfantz. Jordan and Madison Mathews and Audrey Hanson. Sisters Vickie Pasquale, Diane (Dave) Smith, Becky Sopranik and Brother Larry (Diane) Smith, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wilma and Adrian Smith, wife Linda Smith, daughter Cathy Cornell, grandson Dustin Taylor, Sister Sandra (Susie) Valero and brother-in-law, Ben Valero.
