The City of Weston will be holding its first annual Halloween Home Decorating Contest encouraging residents to get in the Halloween spirit. The contest, which is also sponsored by Bennett’s Home and Auto and Mountain State Waste, kicked off on Oct. 1 and will continue taking entries until later this month.
Categories for the contest include scariest, funkiest, and funniest, and winners will be chosen in each category for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. A people’s choice photo contest will also occur, with votes being collected on photos added to the city’s Facebook page.
All registered homes will be photographed on Oct. 22 and 23 for this category. The public will be able to vote for the people’s choice until Oct. 28.

Entry forms can be picked up at the Weston City Municipal Building located at 102 W. 2nd St. in Weston. All entries must be within the city limits and displays should be PG for family viewing. People or live animals are not allowed as part of the display, and the contest is limited to what can be seen from the street side of the house at night.
Registration for the event will end on Oct. 21 so that all entries can then be judged. Winners will be announced on Oct. 29.
