Weston man in court on multiple charges


Dustin L. Lattea, 31, of East First Street, Weston was recently in Lewis County Magistrate Court on multiple criminal charges.
On Aug. 24, he was charged with petit larceny and conspiracy by Ptlm. J.I. Minney of the Weston Police Department for crimes involving the theft of items at the Weston Go-Mart.
On Sept. 11, he was charged with possession of a controlled substance by Deputy J.S. Carey of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department. The charge was the result of the execution of a search warrant on a home where Lattea resided.
On Sept. 12, he was charged with assault, battery, brandishing a deadly weapon and fleeing from police by Sgt. D. Lothes of the Weston Police Department following an altercation with another male at the Weston Shop ‘n Save Express business.
On Oct. 31, under a plea agreement with the State, Lattea pleaded guilty to brandishing , fleeing  and the possession of Meth charges and the remaining charges were dismissed upon motion by the State before Magistrate Roger D. Clem, Jr.
On the brandishing charge he was assessed court costs of $160.25 and received a suspended one year jail sentence replaced with one year of probation to include participation in the Community Corrections Program.
On the fleeing charge he was assessed court costs of $160.25 and received a suspended one year jail sentence replaced with one year of probation to include participation in the Community Corrections Program. The probation is to be served consecutively to the sentence for brandishing.
On the possession of Meth charge he was assessed court costs of $185.25 and received a six month suspended jail sentence replaced with six months of probation to be served consecutively to the sentences for brandishing and fleeing. He was also ordered to pay restitution of $19.99 to the Weston Go Mart.
Other criminal judgments handed down recently in Lewis County Magistrate Court included the following individuals:
Julie A. Hudson, 40, of Skyview Drive, Weston, was charged with possession of a controlled substance/Methamphetamine by Deputy J.S. Carey, LCSD, on April 3.
On April 11, Hudson pleaded guilty before Magistrate Clem. She was assessed court costs of $185.25 and received a 90 day suspended jail sentence replaced with one year of probation to include participation in the Day Report Program.
On Oct. 31, Hudson was sent to jail for 15 days as a sanction for violating the terms and conditions of her probation by failing to show up to the Day Report Center.
Jennifer R. Fuller, 46, of Armory Road, Weston, was charged with five counts of possession of a controlled substance including Marijuana, Mushrooms, Methamphetamine, Clonazepam and Diazepam  by J. Jenkins, Mountain Lakes Drug and Violent Crimes Unit on Aug. 23.
On Oct. 30, under a plea agreement with the State, Fuller pleaded guilty to two counts of possession and the remaining charges were dismissed upon motion by the State before Magistrate Clem.
On one count she was assessed court costs of $160.25 and received a 90 day suspended jail sentence replaced with six months of probation to include participation in the Community Corrections Program.
On the second count she was assessed court costs of $160.25 and received a 90 day suspended jail sentence replaced with six months of probation with probation to run concurrent with that imposed on the first count.
Jennifer  M. Carpenter, 31, of Oakford Avenue, Richwood, was charged with possession of a controlled substance/Suboxone and Methamphetamine by Deputy J.S. VanMeter, LCSD, on May 18.
On Oct. 30, Carpenter pleaded no contest before Magistrate Michael R. Gissy. She was assessed court costs of $160.25 and received a 90 day suspended jail sentence replaced with six months of probation. She received credit for 40 days on incarceration prior to entering her plea.
Eugene S. Garton, 55, of Main Avenue, Weston, was charged with indecent exposure by Sgt. D. Lothes, WPD, on Aug. 14.
On Oct. 31, Garton pleaded guilty before Magistrate Clem. He was assessed court costs of $160.25 and was sentenced to serve 48 hours in jail.
Raymond D. Shortridge, 60, of Trolley Street, Jane Lew, was charged with felony third offense DUI by Cpl. L.D. Mohr, WVSP, on Dex. 23, 2017.
On  Oct. 31, under a plea agreement with the State, Shortridge pleaded no contest to the lesser misdemeanor crime of second offense DUI and the felony charge was dismissed upon motion by the State before Magistrate Clem.
He was assessed court costs of $215.25 and received a suspended six month jail sentence replaced with home confinement.
Kristi D. Crook, 47, of Simpson Run, Weston, was charged with felony financial exploitation of the elderly by Deputy J.S. Tonkin, LCSD, on Aug. 20.
On Oct. 30, upon motion by the State, the charge was dismissed without prejudice before Magistrate Gissy with the notation that “further investigation” was needed.
Philip M. Robbins, 40, of Cody Lane, Weston, was charged with operating a vehicle without a required alcohol test and lock system by Deputy J.S. VanMeter, LCSD, on March 25.
On Oct. 30, upon motion by the State, the charge was dismissed before Magistrate Clem with the notation that Robbins successfully completed a pre-trial diversion plan.
Ronald L. Johnson, 28, of George Street, Weston, was charged with being a person prohibited from being in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance/Marijuana, no driver’s license and operating an unsafe and improperly equipped vehicle by Deputy Z.M. Lopez, LCSD, on Aug. 30.
On Oct. 30, under a plea agreement with the State, Johnson pleaded guilty to the no driver’s license and possession charge and the remaining charges were dismissed upon motion by the State before Magistrate Clem.
On the possession charge he was assessed court costs of $160.25 and received a 90 day suspended jail sentence replaced with one year of probation.
On the no license charge he was assessed a fine of $10 and court costs of $160.25.
Joshua L. Conrad, 32, of Rana Estates, Roanoke, was charged with two counts of petit larceny by Deputy B.D. Hendershot, LCSD, with one charge filed on Sept. 17 and the other on Sept. 24.
On Oct. 30, under a plea agreement with the State, Conrad pleaded guilty to one charge and the second was dismissed upon motion by the State before Magistrate Clem.
He was assessed court costs of $185.25 and received a six month suspended jail sentence replaced with one year of probation. He received credit for 36 days of incarceration prior to entering his plea.
Delores J. Miller, 50, of Murphy Creek Road, Weston, was charged with second offense shoplifting at the Weston Dollar General Store by Deputy J.A. Turner, LCSD, on Oct. 25.
On Oct. 29, under a plea agreement with the State, Miller pleaded no contest to first offense shoplifting before Magistrate Clem.
She was assessed a fine of $10 and court costs of $160.25.
Amy L. Cole, 42, of Churchville Road, Camden, was charged with improper use of evidences of vehicle registration by Deputy A.J. Hummel, LCSD, on Oct. 27.
On Oct. 29, Cole pleaded no contest before Magistrate Clem. She was assessed a fine of $10 and court costs of $160.25
Robert D. Sampson, 47, of Keener Street, Weston, was charged with issuing a $32.10 worthless check to the Jane Lew Restaurant in March of 2005.
On Oct. 31, Sampson pleaded no contest before Magistrate Clem. He was assessed a fine of $10, court costs of $210.25 and was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $37.10.
