Varsity Lady Patriots Conquer the Lady Knights

On Thursday night, the Varsity Lady Patriots came in to their first home game of the season, which resulted in a comeback story and a win against the Lady Knights of Taylor County.
Taylor County was the first to get on the board with three straight baskets, which were the only scores in the first quarter, leaving the Lady Patriots empty handed at the start.
Robert L. Bland was down, but not out, when they hit the second quarter they came out to prove themselves. No. 13 Elleonna Stump got the baskets rolling for the Lady Patriots scoring a two-pointer, followed by No. 23 Brooke Butcher scoring a layup, No. 35 Brianna Watson making a free throw and No. 34 Haley Burkhammer shooting a layup, bringing the score to 7-6.
Taylor County earned one point in a free throw, but once again the Lady Patriots found their footing with Butcher adding four more points and No. 33 Jaelyn Romans adding two.
The Lady Knights made another two-point shot, but was matched again with No. 21 Abby Hartley adding two of her own, which brought the score at the half to 15-9, a tight matched game.
In the third quarter, once again the Lady Patriots came out with fire under them, 10 points out of the gate; Stump contributing three, No. 42 Lauren Wyatt hitting two, Emma Post with two, Butcher with one and Watson with two off of a rebound.
Taylor County then hit a nice three-point shot at the buzzer of the third quarter, bringing the score to 26-12, with the Lady Patriots dominating.
The fourth quarter was met with Burkhammer contributing a free throw, then Butcher swishing a three-pointer, which was then met with the Lady Knights earning their own three-pointer. The last shot of the night went to Butcher who made a layup with a pass from Hartley, leaving the score at the end of the night 32-15, with the Lady Patriots getting their first home game win of the season. Each Lady Patriot was able to score at least two points for their team in this game.
The Lady Patriots will be back in action, this Thursday, at home against Mountaineer Middle, with the JV game starting at 6 p.m., followed by the Varsity game.
