Linda Kennedy and Kara Vaneck, Lewis County residents, were the only two women to come out to support International Women’s Day “A Day Without a Women” in Lewis County.
“A Day Without a Woman” was an organized movement on National Women’s Day which symbolizes equality for justice and human rights of women and all gender-oppressed people, through a demonstration of economic solidarity.
“This was the opportunity to stand up and show up for all women who can’t be here for fear of losing their job. It is to stand up for equal pay, reproductive rights and against sexual harassment. I support all minority groups, whose voices have been muted. If this isn’t the time to stand up, there may not be another chance,” said Kennedy.
“It was wonderful to meet a new neighbor and discuss ways to resist all forms of oppression,” said Vaneck.
