Two jailed for probation violations

Drew S. Hefner, 22, of High Street, Jane Lew, was charged with possession of a controlled substance/Methamphetamine by Deputy E. Carpenter, of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department on Aug. 18, 2017.
On Jan. 25, Hefner pleaded guilty before Magistrate Michael R. Gissy. He was assessed court costs of $160.25 and received a 90 day suspended jail sentence replaced with one year of probation with credit for three days served in jail prior to entering his plea.
On Feb. 22, Magistrate Gissy revoked Hefner’s probation and sentenced him to serve 87 days in jail.
Zachary D. Wolfe, 24, of Monongalia Street, Buckhannon, was charged with obstructing the police by Deputy A. Hummel of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department on Sept. 15, 2017.
On Oct. 3, 2017, Wolfe pleaded guilty before Magistrate Gissy. He was assessed court costs of $160.25 and received a 90 day suspended jail sentence replaced with six months of probation.
On Feb. 22, Magistrate Gissy sentenced Wolfe to spend 50 days in jail as a sanction for violating his probation with Wolfe slated to return to probation upon release from jail.
Other recent dispositions handed down in Lewis County Magistrate Court included:
Ronnie J. Beckner, 66, of Pecks Run Road, Buckhannon, was charged with DUI and driving while license was revoked for DUI by Deputy E. Carpenter, LCSD, on Dec. 8, 2017.
On Feb. 22, Beckner pleaded guilty to both charges. On the DUI charge he was assessed a fine of $100, court costs of $235.25 and received a five day jail sentence with credit for time served prior to entering his plea. On the driving revoked charge he was assessed a fine of $100, court costs of $160.25 and received a 30 day suspended jail sentence replaced with six months of probation.
Derek S. Clem, 23, of Craig Street, Weston, was charged with destruction of property by Ptlm. R. Watson, WPD, on Dec. 27, 2017.
On Feb. 22, Clem pleaded no contest before Magistrate Gissy. He was assessed a fine of $250, court costs of $160.25 and was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $265.55 to Domino’s Pizza.
Johnny R. Howard, 48, of Bighorn Circle, Buckhannon, was charged with issuing three worthless checks totaling $569.61 to Weston Shop n Save and one worthless check to H & M Motors in the amount of $368.88 in 2013.
On Feb. 21, Howard pleaded no contest to the charges. He was assessed fines totaling $20, court costs totaling $731 and restitutution in the amount of $993.59.
Jamie Sampson, 41, of U.S. Route 19 South, Weston, was charged with issuing a worthless check in the amount of $100 to Robert O. Hardman II and a $29.07 worthless check to Jane Lew All Star in March of 2005.
On Feb. 22, Sampson pleaded guilty to both charges and was assessed total fines of $100, court costs of $395.50 and restitution of $147.07.
Richard C. Parker III, 33, of Court Avenue, Weston, was charged with violation of a domestic violence protection order by Cpl. E. Riddle, WPD, on Jan. 4
On Feb. 27, the charge was dismissed upon motion by the state before Magistrate Gissy with the notation, “no valid protection order in place for alleged victim.”
Richard C. Neal, 29, of Smith Run Road, Weston, was charged with harassment by Ptlm. R. Watson, WPD, on Jan. 10.
On Feb. 27, the charge was dismissed upon motion by the defense with no objection by the state before Magistrate Gissy with the notation, “request of victim.”
Dustin L. Watson, 23, of Middle Fork Road, Roanoke, was charged with destruction of property and reckless driving by Ptlm. B. Newbrough, WPD, on Sept. 25, 2017 with obstructing by Deputy Z. Lopez, LCSD, on Aug. 11, 2017 and with petit larceny by Deputy B. Hendershot, LCSD, on Nov. 4, 2017.
On Feb. 22, all charges were dismissed upon motion by the state before Magistrate Gissy with the notation that the dismissals were part of a “global plea agreement in Circuit Court.”
