State record pumpkin being showcased

There is a very large new addition that can be found at TJ’s Greenhouse, on Rt. 33 East, of Weston. For the second year in a row the greenhouse has purchased the state record pumpkin.
This year’s state record was grown by Robert Cyrus, of Fort Gay, West Virginia, and weighs 1,576 pounds. With this pumpkin Cyrus beat his previous state record from 2017.
There is also another “monster” pumpkin at TJ’s Greenhouse named Horace that was grown in Barbour County, WV by Jeremy and Kathryn Biller. This was the first year ever the Biller’s had grown pumpkins, and Horace reached 1,017 pounds.
Although these pumpkins are not for sale, residents are encouraged to stop by to see them and to take pictures. Both pumpkins will be carved into Jack-o-lanterns around Oct. 30 (Halloween) and will be displayed in front of TJ’s Greenhouse.
