Three students at St. Patrick’s School earned prizes in the WV American Water sponsored art contest. The contest was open to fourth, fifth, and sixth graders across the state, with more than 150 entries sent in this year.
Fourth grader Kiarra Weaver, and sixth grader Andrew Moodispaw both won $100 gift cards to Barnes and Noble Book stores, and sixth grader Madison Hall won a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble.
Weaver’s project depicted the earth and trash on the ground, with her theme centered on recycling and keeping the water clean. Moodispaw’s depicted the water system, and its different cycles. Hall’s depicted rivers, lakes, and mountains with a trash can that read “no littering.”
Along with Moodispaw’s gift card, his artwork will be featured on “bloomers.” These are seed filled cards that produce a variety of wildflowers and will be distributed across the state by WV American Water. All fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students at St. Patrick’s entered the contest, under the instruction of science teacher, Mrs. McConnell.
