RLBMS Track Girls Take 3rd at Ritchie

On Tuesday, April 3, the Robert L. Bland Middle School Patriot track and field team took to the road to Ritchie County to compete against four other teams. At the meet, the female team placed third with 65 points, while the male team came in fifth with four points.
In the 100-meter dash Bianca Jamen came in first with a time of 14.57, while Kaliee Posey came in third with a time of 14.84, and Lauren Wyatt came in fifth with a time of 14.98. The three girls earned the team a total of 13 points in this race.
In the 200-meter dash, Jamen once again took first place with a time of 30.08, while Wyatt came in fifth, with a time of 32.60, adding nine points cumulative to the team.
In the 3200-meter run Nevaiah Simmons took fifth place with a time of 14:57.46, earning one point for RLBMS.
Posey took fifth place in the 75-meter hurdles with a time of 15.73, adding one point to the team’s total.
Olivia Farnsworth took home fifth place in the 200-meter hurdles with a time of 38.63, adding another point to the total for RLBMS.
RLBMS took home first place in the 4-by-100-meter relay with runners, Wyatt, Sidney Slaughter, Posey, and Jamen, with a time of 59.61, earning eight points.
RLBMS took third place in the 4-by-200-meter relay with runners, Abby Helmick, Leah Watson, Wyatt, and Slaughter with a time of 2:16.54, earning four points.
RLBMS took home fourth place in the 4-by-800 meter relay, with runners Charlie Ressler, Hannah Strader, Madison Gibson, and Alexis Murphy, with a time of 13:58.33, earning two points.
RLBMS took third place in the 4-by-60-meter shuttle hurdle, with hurdlers Meizhi Belt, April Messenger, Watson, and Farnsworth, with a time of 53.29, earning four points.
Wyatt took second place in the long jump competition with 13-11.50, earning six points for RLBMS.
In the shot-put competition Bri Watson took first place with a distance of 33-04.25, while Kasey Davis took third with a distance of 29-04.00, earning the team a cumulative total of 12 points.
Claire Lattea took third place in the discus throw with 59-07, adding four points to RLBMS’s total.
For the boys’ division, Caleb Moore took fourth place, in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:12.71, earning two points for RLBMS.
Slate Swiger took fourth place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 14:06.66, earning two points.
The Robert. L. Bland Patriots will compete on Wednesday, April 25, at Wesleyan College for their next meet.
