On Tuesday, the Robert L. Bland Middle School Patriots traveled to Buckhannon to compete in the first of two track meets for the week. The girls team placed seventh with 32 points and the boys placed tenth with two points.
Bianca Jamen took third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.61 seconds earning six points.
Nevaiah Simmons took fifth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 15:03.00 earning two points.
RLBMS took third place in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 58.94 seconds earning six points with runners Lauren Wyatt, Sidney Slaughter, Kaliee Posey, and Bianca Jamen.
Wyatt took sixth place in the long jump with a distance of 13-04.50 earning one point.
Bri Watson took first place in the shot put with a distance of 34-00.00 earning 10 points, while teammates Kasey Davis came in fourth with a throw of 29.04.00 and Claire Lattea came in sixth with a throw of 26-11.00 earning a total of five more points.
Slate Swiger earned the only points for the boys team taking fifth place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 13:21.00 earning two points.
The girl’s team also competed on Saturday at the Harry Green Invitational taking 13th place out of 21 teams earning 14 points.
Watson once again took the shot put competition into her hands placing first with a throw of 34-11.00, beating her distance from earlier in the week by 11 inches, earning the majority of the points for the team with 10 tacked on.
Wyatt was the only other RLBMS track athlete to earn points at the Harry Green Invitational taking fourth place in the long jump earning four points with a distance of 14-09.75.
These two meets concluded the track season for the RLBMS Patriots.
