The River Front Market kicked off Weston’s Amazing Week on Saturday, which was accompanied by a pie baking contest. The adult winner for the contest was Deb Montgomery, whereas the youth contest was won by Cameron Ross.
Monday’s Peyton’s Petshow has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 25, at 6 p.m., at Willow Creek Playground, due to inclement weather.
Tuesday, was the dedication of Willow Creek Playground.
Wednesday, June 21, will bring a new event to the Amazing Week, with Weston Fairs and Festivals hosting an ice cream social.
The committee will be serving ice cream sundaes and cones at the Municipal Building, in celebration of the birth of West Virginia, from 4 p.m., to 7 p.m. This is a free public event. This event is being coordinated by Sheila Sayre and Marian Jarrell and the event is sponsored by Doris Kidd, of Sprint.
Thursday, June 22, will be the annual History Challenge, sponsored by Citizen’s Bank of Weston. This event will occur at the Municipal Building this year at 6 p.m. First place prize for the event will be $75, and Leslie Slaughter will be providing the questions at the event.
A favorite of the Amazing Week is back this year, which is a movie in the park sponsored by Shentel, which will occur on Friday, June 23, at dusk.
This year’s movie will be “The Secret Life of Pets”. Popcorn will also be available for movie goers. Anyone attending should also bring their lawn chair and/or blankets to watch the movies from.
The Amazing Week will conclude on Saturday, June 24, with the annual Street Fair, that will be held on Main Avenue in Weston. The Street Fair will start at 10 a.m., that morning and conclude at 3 p.m.
Quilts will be on display on Main Avenue and the Weston Volunteer Fire Department, during the Street Fair as well. Vendors will be set up on Main Avenue during the hours of the Street Fair.
Dusty McCray will perform at the street fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by Patrick Brooks from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
