Richard Devon Hudson

Richard D. Hudson, 70, of Weston, passed away at 7:44 a.m., on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, in the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport following heart complications.
He was born in Charleston, WV, on November 28, 1946, a son of the late Charles Douglas Hudson and Juanita Ruth Riffle Hudson Smith.
He is survived by three siblings: Steven Hudson and wife, Regina, of Weston, Lisa Helmick and husband, Ofie, of Fairmont, and Bruce Smith of Dayton, OH; seven nieces and nephews: Brad Hudson and wife, Tabatha, Steve Hudson, Julie Hudson, Christy Baxter and husband, Chris, Amy Hudson, Christopher Helmick and wife, Amanda, and Lesley Cline and husband, Adam; 20 great nieces and nephews; and three great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings: Karen Diane Hudson, and Carroll J. Hudson; and one great great nephew, Braxton Raines.
Richard was an honored veteran of the United States Army, where he was trained as an equipment mechanic. For years, he was employed as a small engine mechanic, having worked for several companies, including Burnside, Joalde, Bennett Firestone, and Waco Oil & Gas.
In his free time, he enjoyed reading and listening to audio books, tumbling rocks to make jewelry, working sudoko puzzles, coaching baseball, and playing cards with his buddies.
Richard’s request for cremation has been honored. Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service, at 144 Hackers Creek Rd., in Jane Lew, from 5-6 p.m., on Wednesday, September 6, 2017.
A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6 p.m., at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard. Private interment will be held in the Hudson Family Cemetery in Spring Hill, WV.
