Amanda Ralston, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Weston, is the owner of Verbal Behavior Consulting, one of 10 businesses in the state of Kentucky to be selected for a Pacesetters Award from the Small Business Administration in Kentucky.
She was presented the award on May 3, in the capitol building in Frankfurt, KY.
Ralston, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA, started her business in 2007. She recognized the needs of her constituents and expanded the scope of her practice by providing in-home parent and caregiver training with customized treatment options. She also developed site-based programs to provide consistency in behavior procedures and teaching opportunities for language acquisition.
She was an advocate for the legislative changes that provided insurance coverage for autism and behavioral treatment. This change provided insurance coverage for autism change provided more families access to affordable treatment.
Her company has grown from 13 employees in 2013, to 20 in 2015 and currently has 35 employees.
Ralston is the daughter of Karen Ralston and the late Minter Ralston III, of Weston.
She graduated from Lewis County High School in 1995, and Centre College of Danville, Kentucky, in 1999. She since acquired her Master’s in 2013.
