Patriots Volleyball set to start season

The Lady Patriots volleyball season is upon us and the Lady Patriots are working hard.

“Tryouts were really hard,” stated Coach Glenn Pratt. “We had 39 girls tryout and cutting down to 18 was really difficult. It was our biggest turnout for volleyball ever and with eight returning players trying to evaluate everyone took some time. It shows how volleyball is a growing sport at Robert L. Bland even without a feeder program.”

“I am very proud of the success we are having,” Pratt continued. I have selected 18 players for this year;s squad which is one of the largest numbers I have ever kept.

This year’s squad is 8th graders Elleonna Stump, Adisson Heath, Cassie Cook, Haylee Lewis and Brianna Kraus. 7th grade players are Courtney Hartley, Chloe McCartney, Chloe Richards, Channing Carson, Faith Heater, Emma Hoskins, Katelyn Clem, Destiny Sizemore, Leah Watson, Jordyn Aman and Karli Foster. Sixth graders Carmyn Smith and Kaidyn Holcomb round out this year’s squad. Hailey Tutus is the manager for us.

The players are working hard to get ready for the opening day on September 11.

“We will be young but I feel with the returning players we will be very successful,” said Pratt. “We would like to invite all of our fans to come out and watch some Lady Patriots volleyball this year.”
