Lewis County will soon have a new veterinarian to take their furry friends to. Stonewall Veterinary Hospital is scheduled to open in January 2019. The clinic will be owned and operated by Veterinarian Tonya Pickens.
Pickens, who was born and raised in Buckhannon, has been a practicing Veterinarian for 8 years, however she has worked in the field for 18 years. While she was a student at Wesleyan College she worked as an assistant at a vet clinic. Although her plans were originally to study human medicine, Tonya quickly realized she preferred being around animals every day.
Stonewall Veterinary Clinic will specialize in working with small animals and a variety of services will be offered. The clinic will offer preventative care, vaccinations, geriatric services and dental procedures. Specialty services such as surgery, ultrasounds and x-rays will also be offered conveniently on site.
The new clinic is scheduled to open on Jan. 21 and the hours of operation will be Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled beginning Jan. 14 by calling 304-997-8059.
