Event organizers say they are excited to announce two new additions to this year’s BBQ Bash, both free to the public. The Great American Cook-Out Tour is presented by the Kansas City BBQ Society and multiple corporate sponsors, and the WV Mobile Aquarium, is in cooperation with the WV Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) and the WV Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR).
The Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) is the largest non-profit barbeque association in the world, and the primary sponsor of the Great American Cookout Tour, a specially outfitted interactive BBQ exhibit featuring lively cooking and other demos by the pro pitmaster team of Mike and Christine Peters. With stops in all four corners of the country, the Peters explain how the average backyard griller can become a certified BBQ judge or pitmaster in the smokin’ hot bbq circuit.
This 12th anniversary tour will visit approximately 20 of the biggest and friendliest BBQ events and select retail locations during the tour’s seven months on the road. With a mission of bringing people together to share great food, attendees can enjoy grilling tips, free food and other samples, so bring your napkins and don’t miss this new addition to the BBQ Bash.
The special 2,000-gallon mobile aquarium highlights a partnership between the WVDNR and the WVDEP, with both agencies’ missions to improve water quality, conserve resources, and restore fish habitats.
Although the aquarium’s primary purpose is to assist with stream surveys, it also functions as a unique teaching tool at public events, allowing children and adults to observe the diversity of fish species native to West Virginia.
Members of the two agencies will stock the aquarium with fish from the Central West Virginia region and be on-hand to answer questions at the event. The BBQ Bash committee said they are excited to provide this unique exhibit, which only travels to a very few events each year, and are grateful to the WVDEP and WVDNR for bringing it to Weston.
