Minutemen Squeeze Out 3-2 Win Over Philip Barbour


The Lewis County Minutemen baseball team was at home on Monday, April 24 when they hosted the Philip Barbour Colts in a home Big Ten Conference game.
Lewis County would push across two runs in the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead only to see the Colts plate two runs of their own on the third inning to tie the game at 2-2.
The game would stay that way until the bottom of the seventh inning with Jacob White standing on third base with the winning run with Drew Kuhn at the plate for Lewis County. Kuhn would lay down a squeeze bunt that would plate White with the winning run and give the Minutemen a walk off 3-2 win over the Colts.
Cole Barker held the Colts to two runs in six innings of work on the mound while Jared Skinner pitched a scoreless seventh inning to gain the mound win.
Jared Skinner, Leo White, Jacob Moneypenny, Cole Barker, Levi Fox and Jacob White all had one hit each for the Minutemen in the victory.
The next day Lewis County was on the road when they faced the Bridgeport Indians in another Big Ten Conference match up. The Indians would score two runs in the first and add another run in the second and road the one hit pitching of Haden Miller and Tim Via to claim a 3-0 win over Lewis County. Jared Skinner had the lone hit for the Minutemen.
Luke White suffered the mound loss pitched the first six innings with Nick Gould pitching the final frame for Lewis County.
The Minutemen have game scheduled for May 1, at Clay County, May 2, at home versus Grafton and May 3, at home versus Lincoln.
