The Lewis County Minutemen will return home this Friday, September 14 when they host the Braxton County Eagles at 7 p.m. in a non-conference game at the Lewis County High School Sports Complex.
The Minutemen are hoping to continue their momentum into this week’s contest after their impressive win over previously undefeated Elkins last Friday night 34-7.
Braxton County come into the game with an 0-2 mark and were idle last week.
The Eagles lost in week 1 to Lincoln by a score of 3-0 and fell in week two to Clay County 29-18.
Friday’s meeting will mark the 32nd time the Minutemen and Eagles have met. Braxton County recorded a 20-14 win over Lewis County in last year’s meeting. Lewis County’s last win in the series came in 2016, when the Minutemen defeated the Eagles 40-35.
The 2016 meeting was the first between the two schools since the 1997 season. The two teams had met every year from 1969-97 when they quit meeting each other.
