Margaret J. Bodkin, 81, of Good Hope, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born in Weston on August 29, 1935, a daughter of the late Sherman John Bean and Flora Jane Butcher Bean.
On December 21, 1956, she married John Franklin Bodkin and they celebrated 52 years of marriage before his passing on February 17, 2009.
She is survived by three children: Mike Bodkin and wife, Kay, of Good Hope, Steve Bodkin of Boardman, OH, and Greg Bodkin and wife, Kim, of Good Hope; four grandchildren: Matthew Bodkin and wife, Kristin, Sara Hinzman and husband, Tim, Scotty Bodkin and Aaron McGraw; four great-grandchildren: Noah Bodkin, Taylor Bodkin, Shelby Hill, and Corbin Hinzman; three brothers: Herb Bean of Weston, Reverend Jerry Bean of Weston, and Bob Bean of Goldsboro, NC; and her beloved Persian cat, Molly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Danny Bodkin; nine siblings: Raymond Bean, Dick Bean, Bernard Bean, Larry Bean, Maxine Harris, Betty Brumley, Patty Hicks, Madalyn Harper, and Ellen Cool; and one great grandchild, Quenton Bodkin.
Margaret was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Broad Run Baptist Church in Jane Lew.
Friends and family gathered at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd., from 5-7 p.m., on Monday, July 31, 2017. Funeral Services followed at 7 p.m., at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend William Coffindaffer officiating. Private interment was held at the Mitchell Cemetery in Roanoke, WV.
