Man Sentenced in Malicious Wounding

Circuit Court Judge Jacob Reger sentenced Lermon Russell to two to 10 years in prison for a February, 2016, felony malicious wounding charge.
Russell will have 30 months to pay a total of $35,133.33 in restitution, and 30 months to pay court costs and attorney’s fees.
Reger denied the defense’s motion for alternative sentencing, saying “That’s as bad a beating with hands as I’ve seen in my 25 years.” The alleged victim read her impact statement prior to sentencing.
Russell was arrested on Feb. 2, 2016, on charges of malicious assault, destruction of property and fleeing from an officer DUI. As part of his plea agreement, the destruction of property and fleeing charges were dismissed.
