Lewis County Youth Basketball League Boys Season Tips Off

The action has began for the 2019 season for the Lewis County Youth Basketball League. A pair of games were held at the St. Pat’s Gym on January 3. The Pistons topped the Irish in the first game of the season by a score of 38-13. Logan Boyce led the Pistons with 16 points while Landen Bennett had 8 points for the Irish. In the second game, the Knicks defeated the Lakers 28-11. Aidan Anderson scored 13 points for the Knicks while Parker Williams scored 4 points for the Lakers.     
Three more games took place at the St. Pat’s Gym on January 4. The Redskins downed the Minutemen 25-16. Ryder Aman led the way for the Redskins with 8 points while Caden Forinash scored 10 points for the Minutemen. The Mountaineers defeated the Celtics 22-8. Zander Carlton and Jacob Mick scored 6 points each for the Mountaineers while Garrett Moats paced the Celtics with 4 points. The Trotters downed the Irish in the final game of the night 34-4. Kolton Knight had 12 points for the Trotters while Ethan Cawthon had 4 points for the Irish.
There would be one boys game on January 5 at the St. Pat’s Gym. The Knicks topped the Colts 28-13. Aidan Anderson 14 points and Maddox Gillespie 10 points led the way for the Knicks while Caleb McKee score 6 points for the Colts.     
Four more games were held at the RLBMS Gym on Sunday, January 6. The Minutemen defeated the Pistons 22-14. Caden Forinash had 14 points for the Minutemen while Logan Boyce scored 10 points for the Pistons. The Redskins edged by the Trotters 19-15. Kaden McElroy scored 6 points for the Redskins while Quinten Posey had 6 points for the Trotters. The Mountaineers got by the Lakers 26-11. Bryant Sponaugle had 8 points for the Mountaineers while Brandon Cooper led the Lakers with 4 points. The Colts got by the Celtics 30-26. Brayden Helmick scored 16 points for the Colts while Kyle Hayhurst scored 11 points for the Celtics.
A full slate of games will be played this week at both gyms as the regular season will continue into February and will conclude with the playing of the annual Stars of Tomorrow Tournament.
