The Lewis County Senior Center held their annual pie contest Tuesday, with a pecan pie and an apple pie tied for first place. Judges George Hallock, Steve Peters, and Mike Holden ultimately decided the pecan pie was the best. It was made by Jennifer McVay.
Second place honors went to Marge Starr for her apple pie, and Jane Scott came in third with her butterscotch cream pie. Other entries included a cherry cheese pie, banana cream pie, and another apple and pecan pie each.
After the judging, pies were auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting the new van fund for the center. Holden served as auctioneer for the contest.
The judges enjoyed being part of the contest, with Holden saying, “This is fun!”
Rules for the contest were all fillings had to be home made, but crusts could be either home made or store bought. Winners were awarded ribbons for first, second, and third places.
