Lewis County resident and Lewis County High School graduate Shane Hawkins won second place in the Copper Skillet worldwide competition.
Hawkins traveled to California last week, where he competed against the United Kingdom and New Zealand in the Junior division.
Hawkins won at the national level, and then beat Canada on the international level, before competing in the final competition. Hawkins is the lead cook at Stillwaters Restaurant at Stonewall Resort.
He has worked there for six years. He and his wife, Carie, reside in Lewis County.
The Copper Skillet competition is sponsored by the International Association of Conference Centers.
