Lewis County freshmen basketball team wins 11th consecutive game


The Lewis County Freshmen basketball team opened its 2017-18 season with a loss. Since that opening season loss to Bridgeport, the Minutemen have rattled off 11 straight wins to improve its record to 11-1 on the season.
Last week the Minutemen picked up a pair of win at home. The first game was on Jan. 29, when they hosted the Elkins Tigers. Led by Jaycob Smith’s 16 points and Tyler Heater’s 12 points, Lewis County defeated Elkins 48-39.
The Minutemen were back at home the next night as they hosted the North Marion Huskies.
Lewis County jumped out to a 15-4 first quarter lead then put in cruise control as they picked up a convincing 70-25 win to run their record to 11-1.
In the win over the Huskies Lewis County led in scoring by Will Hunt who had 17 points and Tyler Heater who added 16 points. The freshmen team will has upcoming games on Feb. 8, in Grafton, and Feb. 10 in Bridgeport.
