Lewis County First plans for holiday season

Lewis County First is gearing up for the holidays. After helping plan Lewis County’s birthday party, the group will begin decorating the Kanawha Building at WVU Jackson’s Mill.
WVU Jackson’s Mill Program Specialist Dean Hardman said buildings need to be decorated prior to the Winter Lights Dinner, which is the weekend of Dec. 8.
LC First is also ringing the bell at Shop N’ Save on Monday, Dec. 11. Several members have volunteered to take different shifts
between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
The group has also planned their holiday party, which will be at 6 p.m., Dec. 17, at Lambert’s Winery.
Secretary Brittney Barlett is working with B.J. Brooks on National Night Out 2018. A Jaws fundraiser is planned for January. This BBQ fundraiser is being held in honor of Dick Harrison. No date has been set yet, but keep checking back for more information.
Almost Heaven BBQ Bash organizer Jody Light told the group about a fundraiser using playing cards. Businesses can place their ad, logo, or an offer on a playing card, which customers can then present to that business for a discount.
A whole deck of cards will be sold to individuals. Businesses have the opportunity to purchase playing cards at three different levels: Face cards from two-10 are $50, Jack, Queen, or King are $100, and Aces are $300. Businesses can buy an ad on one card or as many as they want. Contact Light on their Facebook page for more information.
