The 13th annual Salad Luncheon, hosted by the Lewis County CEOS Marketing and Membership Committee, will be held on Monday, May 22, 12:10 p.m., at the Broad Street United Methodist Church.
Recognition will include “Tip of the Hat” honorees from each county club, Lewis County’s belle to the West Virginia State Folk Festival, county council officers, and the 2016 member of the year.
Pre-registration with the county extension office is due May 17.
Held each year during CEOS Week, the Salad Luncheon is a well-attended event. Community leaders in Lewis County and leadership of CEOS programs in adjoining counties are also invited.
The West Virginia CEOS international student from Cameroon, Line-Audrey, will speak at the conclusion of the Salad Luncheon. She is being hosted by Denton and Sandy King while visiting Lewis County.
On May 8, representatives of Lewis County Community Educational Outreach Service (CEOS) Clubs met with the Lewis County Commission and a proclamation recognizing May 21-27 as CEOS Week in Lewis County was signed.
Later that morning, Marketing and Membership Committee members met at the Citizens Bank of Weston to arrange a table display promoting CEOS then set up a display at Bennett’s Furniture Center.
The group enjoyed lunch at Hickory House before going on to Jackson’s Mill to complete their day of CEOS service. Work in the flower beds at each end of the CEOS pathway at Jackson’s Mill has been a project of the Marketing and Membership Committee for a number of years.
This annual project involves cleaning the flower beds on both sides of the millstones, dividing plants, pruning, and other work as necessary. All Lewis County CEOS Clubs were generous in providing annuals which were planted to provide color during the summer months.
