LCHS Golf continues strong play

The Lewis County High School Golf Team continued their strong season over the last several weeks with two first place finishes and a second place finish in four matches. 

LCHS traveled to Elkins on Aug. 22, for a four-way meet and emerged with a second place finish just behind match winner Fairmont Senior. Ayden Wyckoff paced the Minutemen with a 39 followed closely by Austin Riley with a 43.  Wyckoff shared medalist honors for the match with three other players.

Lewis County fell to Grafton 166-155 on Aug. 23, at the Tygart Lake Country Club.  Wyckoff again led the team with a score of 35, and again shared medalist honors for the event.

The team picked up a win on Aug. 28 at the Bel Meadows Country Club defeating both Lincoln and South Harrison by a large margin. Wyckoff again led the team and medaled. Hunter Heath, Austin Riley, and Brad Bozic also turned in strong rounds during the event. 

The Minutemen again emerged with a big win over rival Buckhannon-Upshur on Sept. 4, at the Buckhannon Country Club. Wyckoff shot a 37, earning his fourth medal in four matches, and Riley and Bozic both shot 43 for the round in the victory.   

Coach Kenny James praised the performance of his team heading into the Big 10 tournament which is set for Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Bel Meadows Country Club in Clarksburg.
