Mark your calendars! Buckhannon-Upshur High School and Lewis County High School are pleased to present Andrew Loyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera May 3-6, at WVWC’s Virginia Thomas Law Performing Arts Center.
Show times for Thursday, Friday, and Sunday will be at 7 p.m., with matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. There will be five chances to see the show with no Saturday evening performance. This is the first time both high schools have joined to do a production together with students and faculty traveling to rehearsals at both high schools. The Phantom of the Opera has been done only one other time in the state by a high school.
Eva Atha plays Christine with Sean Crites as the Phantom and Ryan Post-Overton as Raoul. Iris Kolenich and Eli Virden play Carlotta and Piangi, the stars at the opera house with Charlotte Dotson playing Madame Giry, the ballet instructor, with her daughter Meg played by Jenna Kennedy.
The owners of the opera house are portrayed by Kason Currence and Patrick O’Neill with several supporting characters from both schools. Students from both schools will perform in the show’s pit alongside college and professional players. This production also features the Augusta Youth Ballet under the direction of Nina Scattaregia.
All Tickets are $10. The box office will open one hour prior to the show with house opening 30 minutes prior. Come early to guarantee a seat.
