Lawrence Dwain Moneypenny, 78, of Sandston, Virginia, was ushured into Heaven on August 27, 2017.
He was born in Weston, the son of the late Lawrence and Irene Moneypenny. He was also preceded in death by one son, David Dwain Moneypenny.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Stutler Moneypenny (Carol) of Richmond Va., whom he married on September 9, 1961; two children, Lawrence (Larry) Dwain Moneypenny Jr. (Carol), of Richmond Va. and Mary Ellen Baker (Jimmie) of Ruther Glen, Va.; three beloved granddaughters, Janae, Christina and Shealor, of Virginia; two sisters, Joyce Lough (Nelson) and Evelyn Rogers of Weston; one brother, Lane Moneypenny, of Jane Lew. He is also survived by his precious kitties, Pretty Girl and Stinker.
He graduated from Weston High School with the Class of 1957.
Dwain was a U.S. Army veteran and was a retired employee of Overnite Transportation, where he worked many years as a printer. He was an avid collector and restorer of antiques, especially oak furniture.
A friend to many, and a true brother in Christ, he knew the assurance of eternity in the precense of God, because of the love God demonstrated through the gift of his son, Jesus Christ. His greatest desire was that everyone he knew or met would join him in God’s presence for eternity by salvation through his Savior and Lord.
Dwain was a member of Concord Baptist Church, where the funeral was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 31. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
