The LCHS JV Minutemen faced off against the Lincoln Cougars Thursday, Jan. 3, at the LCHS gymnasium.
Lewis County fell behind early in the contest after two early three pointers by Lincoln’s Jeremiah Clarkson in the first quarter of action. The Minutemen cut into the Lincoln lead with a run just before the end of the frame but trailed 15-10 going into the second period of play.
The Cougars were able to extend their lead in the second quarter as Lewis County went cold from the field just as the Cougars heated up from downtown, hitting four triftectas to take a 30-19 lead into the locker room for the half.
After the half it was Lewis County’s turn to heat up from long distance, and the Minutemen outscored the Cougars 19-15 with the help of two three pointers from Nic Kuhn and another by Jaycob Smith to cut Lincoln’s lead to seven going into the final quarter.
The Minutemen’s comeback hopes were dashed in the fourth quarter as Lincoln was able to make the most of the their chances at the charity stripe going 15 for 18 and handed the Minutemen a 63-52 loss.
The Minutemen were lead in scoring by Will Hunt with 13 points followed by Kuhn with 9 and Ben Jerden with 7.
