John Patrick Montgomery


John Patrick Montgomery, 72, of Butchers Lane, Weston, passed away at 12:13 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, in the comfort of his home, with family by his side, in the care of People’s Hospice.
He was born in Weston on January 29, 1945, a son of the late William Everett Montgomery and Ladorris“Doris”Margaret Butcher Montgomery.
His strong, hardworking nature will be carried on by his six children: John Patrick Montgomery Jr. and wife, Sandy, of French Creek, Catherine Kay Lamb and husband, Richard, of Weston, William Russell Montgomery and wife, Stephanie, of Weston, Margaret Ann Montgomery and companion, Roger Rowan, of French Creek, Everett James Montgomery and wife, April, of Alum Bridge, and Daisy Ann Montgomery and companion, Brian, of Weston; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Densel Riffle and wife, Cherry, of Good Hope; his companion, Karen Sue Crites of Weston; several half brothers and sisters; and his two beloved cats, Fluffy and Bear Bear.
In addition to his adoptive parents, he was preceded in death by his biological parents, Loretta Curtis and Sherman Martin Riffle; two children: Sandra Kay Montgomery and James Everett Montgomery; and several half brothers and sisters.
John retired from the Lewis County Board of Education with 33+ years of service as a bus driver. He was a Jack-of-all-trades-carpenter-mechanic-Ford-Man who usually had a coffee in one hand, and a cigarette in the other. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking long drives.
Friends and family gathered at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd., in Jane Lew, from 12-1 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017. Funeral Services followed at 1 p.m., at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wease Day officiating. Interment followed in the Waldeck Cemetery.
