Jane Lew Elementary School gets new artwork

Jane Lew Elementary School students, parents, and school employees will now be greeted by a new piece of art as they arrive at school each day. As part of Dominion Energy’s volunteer project, a chainsaw carving was completed last week.
The carving is an eagle holding a dreamcatcher (the school’s symbol) with the word “DREAM” below it. The project was completed by the Mason Dixon Boys, a company based in Raleigh County in the town of Cool Ridge.
The company is owned by two people, Kirby Stanford and Travis Crook. Stanford said they travel to many fairs, including some in KY and OH. The two have known each other for 20 years, while working for other companies prior to starting their own.
Earlier this year Dominion Energy overhauled the pre-school playground at JLES, adding a shade pavilion and a garden space, plus several other kid friendly attractions.
