Jamboree Begins

The 2017 Jamboree at the Mill began Sunday, with Litter Olympics, blacksmithing, and the rabbit and poultry show. The Litter Olympics offers children a chance to use recycled item to build different things.
4-H project exhibits were also on display in the barn, with everything from Cloverbud activity books to cookbooks. The rabbit and poultry show began at 6 p.m. with Allison White winning Grand Champion with her Rhode Island white chicken, and Kassie White winning Reserve Champion with her Indian Runner duck.
Colton Tenney’s grey frizzle chicken won Grand Champion in its class. Paige Powers was one winner in the rabbit division, winning Grand Champion with Cinnamon.
Monday’s activities at the Jamboree included the photography exhibit, with 57 entries. Exhibits opened to the public at 5 p.m., that evening.
Tuesday offered free swimming for youth exhibitors, dress your potato, and the Olgebay Zoo.
Vegetable, flower, and home canning exhibits were also set up Tuesday evening. Livestock shows included beef showmanship, beef heifer, and feeder calves.
The rest of the week’s activities include a dog show, small pet show, dress your pet contest, cake walks, stick horse derby, barrel racing, and goat and sheep livestock shows.
Thursday will include arm chore olympics, appreciation dinner for sponsors and buyers, the awards ceremony and market animal
sale.
