Horner Man Gets 7 Months Home Confinement

A Horner man was given a total of seven months of home confinement under a plea agreement on drunk driving-related offenses.
Mark E. Peters, 43, of Linger Run Road, Horner, was charged with the felony offenses of fleeing from police while DUI and third offense driving while license was revoked for DUI by Deputy Z.M. Lopez of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department on Feb. 25.
On April 26, under a plea agreement with the state, Peters pled guilty to two lesser misdemeanor offenses of second offense DUI and first offense driving while license was suspended or revoked for DUI and the felony charges were dismissed upon motion by the State before Magistrate Roger D. Clem, Jr.
On the second offense DUI conviction, Peters was assesed a fine of $100, court costs of $160.25 and was given four months of home incarceration. On the driving revoked for DUI conviction, he was assessed a fine of $100, court costs of $160.25 and was given three months of home incarceration to be served consecutively to the four month sentence.
Other sentences handed down recently in Lewis County Magistrate Court included:
Chad D. Moneypenny, 24, of Virginia Avenue, Weston, was charged with obstructing police by Deputy B.D. Hendershot, LCSD, on March 28.
On April 27, Moneypenny pled guilty before Magistrate Michael R. Gissy. He was assessed court costs of $160.25 and was given credit for 30 days spent in jail as his jail sentence.
Nicole Brannon, 40, of Everson Road, Buckhannon, was charged with possession of a controlled substance/methamphetamine by Cpl. D.A. Lothes, WPD, on March 23.
On April 27, Brannon pled no contest before Magistrate Gissy. She was assessed court costs of $160.25, and was given a 90 day suspended jail sentence replaced with one year of probation with credit for 35 days spent in jail.
Bridget R. Dye, 36, of  Homewood Road, Weston, was charged with possession of a controlled substance/marijuana by Sheriff A.M. Gissy, LCSD, on July 27, 2016.
On April 26, Dye pled guilty before Magistrate Clem. She was assessed court costs of $190.25.
Keithia R. Helmick, 30, of Nutter Court, Weston, was charged with domestic battery by Ptlm. S. Carlton, WPD, on Feb. 20.
On April 17, Helmick pled guilty before Magistrate Gissy. She was assessed court costs of $160.25 and was given a suspended seven day jail sentence replaced with one year of probation, with credit for any time spent in jail.
Christopher Casto, 38, of Maggie Drive, Walkersville, was charged with attempting to defeat drug/alcohol screening by Deputy C.L. Moneypenny, LCSD, on Jan. 18.
On April 27, Casto pled guilty before Magistrate Gissy. He was assessed a fine of $10 and court costs of $160.25.
Danny L. Cook, 32, of West 7th Street, Weston, was charged with reckless driving by Deputy E.W. Clark, LCSD, on April 18.
On April 26, Cook pled no contest before Magistrate Clem. He was assessed a fine of $100 and court costs of $160.25.
