A reception was held last week in the Lewis County Assessor’s Office for Deputy Assessor Joyce Helmick, who is retiring after 32 years of service to county residents. Helmick said that it’s time to say good-bye, adding a brief statement about her time there.
“I would like to thank Assessor John Breen for making my last six months a pleasure,” Helmick said. “The working environment under John is top notch and we are a family once more. I will miss my co-workers both old and new. Mostly, I will miss the great citizens of Lewis County and it has been my pleasure to serve them for all these many years.”
Breen said that losing Helmick is a major loss.
On another note, he added that online assessments are now available.
“It will take some of the work load out of personal property and allow citizens to file in the convenience of their own homes,” Breen said.
