Hayward “Catfish” Allman, 82, of Old Mill Road, Jane Lew, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born in Lewis County on October 1, 1934: son of the late Russell Allman and Ruth (Hitt) Allman. On January 8, 1955, he married Ora Jean (Richards) Allman, who survives.
Mr. Allman is also survived by one daughter: Becky Taylor and husband Randy of Weston, one son: Roger Allman and wife Sharon of Horner, five grandchildren: Greg Allman, Heather Butcher, Allen Allman, Ashley Morrell and Nicole Hopkins and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother: Bernard Allman of Lake St Louis, Mo, one sister: Marge Neely of Kincheloe, WV and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Hayward was preceded in death by four brothers: Densel Allman, Ransel Allman, Russell Allman, Jr. and Howard Allman and three sisters: Kate Hood, Velma Lutock and Wilda Nell Davis.
Mr. Allman retired from Hope Natural Gas Company as a truck driver. He was a graduate of Shinnston High School and a member of Broad Run Baptist Church. Hobbies include hunting and fishing. He was blessed to catch a few trophy citation trout which hang on his wall. Farming was his passion and he always kept several beef cattle. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, family and grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Bill Coffindaffer officiating.
