Harry Rogers

Harry Minnigh Rogers, Jr. (known to many as “Mick”) passed away Friday, April 7, 2017, in the loving arms of his wife at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, following an extended illness.
Harry was born in Lost Creek, Harrison County, West Virginia, on December 19, 1940.  He lived most of his life in Jane Lew, the place he loved and always felt was almost heaven.  He was the son of Harry Minnigh Rogers and Christine Juanita (Morris) Rogers, both deceased.  In addition, he was preceded in death by a son who died at birth, and one brother, Francis Gene (Dick) Rogers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara (Smith) Rogers, whom he married on March 9, 1959.  Also surviving are one son, David Rogers and wife, Linda of Columbus, MS; one daughter, Lisa (Rogers) Small and husband, Don of Bozeman, MT; four grandchildren, Jessica (Rogers) Noble and husband, Brad of Clarksville, TN; Danielle (Rogers) Young and husband, David of Starkville, MS; Samantha Rogers of Columbus, MS; Cryssy DeBoer and husband, Shane of Bozeman, MT.  He is also survived by two remarkable great grandchildren, who brought incredible joy to his life: one-year old great grandson, Lucas Noble of Clarksville, TN, and two-year old great granddaughter, Lorelei DeBoer of Bozeman, MT.
Harry was a graduate of Jane Lew High School and attended WV Business College.  He worked for 17 years at Hazel Atlas/Continental Can/Brockway Glass Factory and 17 years at Halliburton.  His true love in life was working and playing outdoors.  He loved mowing grass, gardening (especially tomatoes and peppers), hunting and fishing.  In later years he and his wife spent many special times together traveling throughout the US and other countries.
He was a member of the Broad Run Baptist Church, Jane Lew, WV, for more than 50 years and was a deacon.  He had a special love for the church family and enjoyed greeting everyone on Sunday mornings, especially those who expected a hug.  His special gift was helping others – mowing lawns, sharing his produce from the garden, and helping in whatever capacity he could.  He will be missed by his loving family and also by many other friends and neighbors.
Harry’s request for cremation has been honored. Friends and family will gather at the Broad Run Baptist Church in Jane Lew from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at noon, with Reverend Bill Coffindaffer and Pastor Rick Garavaglia officiating. Following the Celebration of Life Service, a dinner will be provided for all who loved Mick and considered him a cherished friend.
