Grand Jury Hands Down 12 Indictments Monday

The March 2017 term of the Lewis County Grand Jury returned 12 indictments on Monday, March 6, including the case of Lena Lunsford Conaway, who is accused in the death of her 3-year-old daughter.
Lunsford was indicted on one felony count of murder of a child by parent, guardian or custodian or other person by refusal or failure to provide necessities, one count death of a child by parent, guardian or custodian or other person by child abuse, one count child abuse resulting in injury, and one count concealment of deceased human body. All four counts are felonies.
Other indictments include
Tiffany Tomaro, who was charged with one count grand larceny, one count conspiracy to commit grand larceny, one count entry of building other than dwelling, one count conspiracy to commit entry of building other than dwelling, and one count possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, methamphetamine, all of these felony charges.
—Jeremy Perry was charged with one count grand larceny, one count conspiracy to commit grand larceny, one count destruction of property a misdemeanor, four counts conspiracy to commit entry of building other than dwelling, four counts conspiracy to commit entry of building other than dwelling, one count petit larceny a misdemeanor, one count entry of building other than dwelling, one count conspiracy to commit entry of building other than dwelling, one count grand larceny, and one count possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, methamphetamine, all felonies unless otherwise noted.
—Emmanuel Phifer, Demius Jones and Nathaniel Jones were all charged with two counts each fraudulent use of an access device, two counts each of conspiracy to commit fraudulent use of the access device, one count each of attempting to obtain money, property, and services by false pretenses, and one count each conspiracy to attempt to obtain money, property, and services by false pretenses, all felonies. Additionally, Demius Jones was also charged with obstructing an office, a misdemeanor.
—Mitchell Smith has been indicted on two counts delivery of a controlled substance, methamphetamine and one count possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, both felonies, and one count possession of a controlled substance, marijuana a misdemeanor.
—Winfred McCourt was charged with one count first degree arson, a felony.
—Corey Bailey was charged with one count grand larceny and one count conspiracy to commit grand larceny, both felonies.
—Charles Dean was charged with one count driving while license revoked for DUI, third offense, a felony.
—Robert Allman was charged with one count fleeing with reckless indifference, a felony. Travis Hayhurst was charged with one count solicitation of a minor and traveling to engage the minor in prohibited sexual activity and one count solicitation of a minor, both felonies, and one count sexual abuse in the third degree, a misdemeanor.
All those indicted have to report to the Lewis County
Judicial Annex Circuit Courtroom on March 9 at 9 a.m.
