Frena Pearl Duncan, 86, of W Fourth St., Weston, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord at 10:02 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017, in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston following an extended illness.
She was born in Weston on August 1, 1931, a daughter of the late Cecil Lee Helmick and Della K. Heater Helmick.
On January 1, 1957 she married Ernest Fred Duncan and they celebrated 24 years of marriage before his passing on August 27, 1981.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews; and several cousins, including Barbara Miller, and Vickie Heater, both of Weston.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Roy and Ray Helmick; and her best friend and beloved dog, Punky, who loved to snuggle and watch television with her.
In her earlier years, Frena worked at the Camden Coffee Shop, then later volunteered at Our Neighbor, and finished her working career at Go Mart in Weston. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with friends. She was a member of the St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Weston.
Friends and family will gathered at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service, at 144 Hackers Creek Rd., in Jane Lew, from 12-1 p.m., on Monday, November 20, 2017. Funeral Services followed at 1 p.m., at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ronald C. Brown officiating. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew.
