The members of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department would like to announce the beginning of our Annual Fund Drive the week of May 1 - May 5. This is the only fund drive of the year, and as in years past, we sincerely hope that citizens, businesses and professional people of Weston and Lewis County are very supportive. Business and professional people play a vital role in the development of our community. Traditionally they have been very generous and attentive to the needs of the fire department.
The multi-year project of major renovations to our aging fire station (constructed in 1969) which were needed to protect our apparatus and equipment continued last year. The City of Weston continues to improve financially and has budgeted for one additional paid firefighter for the upcoming fiscal year. The department has once again received the SAFER grant in order to maintain staffing levels allowing the department to continue providing 24/7 fire protection.
The department recently placed our new rescue apparatus in service which was needed to provide more efficient and effective response to incidents when our citizens are in need of emergency assistance. Also on the agenda for this year is the maintenance and repair to existing apparatus and equipment, and annual testing of apparatus and equipment. All of this must be done to meet state and national standards. Firefighters will continue with required training in order to provide the best service possible to the citizens of Weston and Lewis County.
Your donations and support are the very key to our existence; they are very much needed and appreciated. Through your continued support we will continue to stride for improvements to the fire service to keep every individual safe and secure as possible whether at home, work, school or recreation time.
All contributions can be mailed to the address listed below. Should you have any questions or need additional information, please contact any of the writers at 304-269-2349..
Thank you in advance for your support.
