Edward Jerry Metzgar, 78, of Churchville Rd., Camden, passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2017, in Alive Hospice in Madison, TN, following an extended illness.
He was born in Parkersburg on September 3, 1938, a son of the late Gail Metzgar and Mary Lucille Fahey Metzgar.
On October 4, 1958, he married Nancy Carolyn Dix who will miss him dearly after 58 years of marriage.
His strong, compassionate nature will be carried on by his six children: Eddie Metzgar and wife, Pam, of Baxter, TN, Donna Lauer of Camden, Kathy Wix and husband, Larry, of Akron, OH, Dan Metzgar of Goodlettsville, TN, Jimmy Metzgar and wife, Ava, of Cookeville, TN, and Kevin Metzgar and wife, Tina of Akron, OH; nine grandchildren: David Stone, Danielle James, Kristen Olesly and husband, Justin, Ryan Dowey, Claudia Metzgar, Blake Metzgar, Daniel Metzgar, Erica Metzgar, and Zach Metzgar; four great grandchildren: Aiden, Braxton, Adriane, and Kailynn; one brother, Joseph David Metzgar and wife, Daphne, of Akron, OH; sister-in-law, Barbara Metzgar of Houston, TX; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, loyal companion, and beloved dog, Susie.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Francis
Jerry worked in construction as a brick layer most of his life, and enjoyed hunting, golfing, and working in his yard. He was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church at Leading Creek.
Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 5 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017, and on Friday morning from 10 - 11 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday from the St. Boniface Catholic Church with Reverend Fr. Joshua Stevens as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Fink. Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel.
