Drug sweep nabs 12

Lewis County Sheriff's deputies fanned out across the county Wednesday, seeking to arrest 12 on a variety of drug charges, according to Lewis County Sheriff Adam Gissy.

Gissy stated that the arrests were related to a variety of drugs with methamphetamine being the most prevalent, but other drugs listed by Gissy where "bath salts" and Suboxone.

"Today [Wednesday, Jan. 31] is just a continuance of our efforts that began some five years ago. That effort and initiative has been to make our community and a better and safer place," said Gissy.

He added that he felt arrests like the ones conducted Wednesday went a long way toward achieving that goal.

"We want to send a message to the drug dealers that maybe they should just stop," added Gissy.
