Former Lewis County resident, Lena Lunsford Conaway, 34, has requested a change of venue regarding her upcoming trial in the death of her toddler daughter, Aliyah Lunsford.
Conaway was indicted in March on one count of murder of a child by a parent by failure to provide necessities, one count of death of a child by parent by child abuse, one count of child abuse resulting in injury, and one count of concealment of a dead body by Lewis County Sheriff’s deputies.
A hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 19 at 1:30 p.m.
Lewis County Sheriff Adam Gissy stated Aliayah’s remains have not been found.
He added, “We have yet to locate her remains, however, we are still actively pursuing any information and leads regarding Aliayah.”
Conaway was granted a continuance, which was requested by the state, in October. Flanigan said the investigation has spanned five years, and there is over 150 tapes to go through. This does not include figuring out who witnesses will be either, Flanigan stated.
Conaway’s trial is currently scheduled for Feb. 13, 2018 in Lewis County.
