Carolyn Ann Gissy

Carolyn Ann Gissy, 68, of the Dry Fork Community of Weston passed away at 7:10 a.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2017, in the Glenville Center following an extended illness.
She was born in Weston on March 31, 1948, a daughter of the late Paul Michael Gissy and Kathryn Margaret Casey Gissy.
Her kind, giving nature will be remembered by her three siblings: Steve Gissy of Bridgeport, Kathy Owen and husband, Roger, of Winter Springs, FL, and Mary Ellen Bragg and husband, Frank, of Jane Lew; sister-in-law, Alice Gissy of Bridgeport; 10 nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Francis Gissy.
Carolyn graduated from St. Patrick High School and devoted most of her life to a career in healthcare, first working for Dr. Trinkle, then Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. In later years she worked as a medical assistant and lab practitioner for Dr. Ben Orvik, providing loving, compassionate care to their patients.  She devoted hundreds of hours to the Lewis County EMS and was part of the Friday Night F Troop.
She helped organize the Lewis County Citizens Against Drugs and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the WV State Police for her valuable contributions to the program.
In her free time she enjoyed cooking, baking, crafting, sewing, needlework, and flower gardening. Friends and family will treasure their memories of “Bubba’s” feisty and humorous personality and her willingness to always help others. She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Weston.
Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Weston with Reverend James R. DeViese Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew.
