Billy Ray Snyder, 81, of Dutchman Lane Weston passed away at 5:05 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in the comfort of his home with family by his side in the loving, compassionate care of WV Hospice.
He was born in Gilmer County on December 26, 1935 a son of the late Everett Warren Snyder and Hallie Mae James Snyder.
On June 1, 1954 he married Violet Jeannette Moneypenny Snyder and they celebrated 55 years of marriage before her passing on March 21, 2010.
He is survived by his three daughters: Debbie Bragg, Cindy Cook, and Colleen Stalnaker and husband, Bobby, all of Weston; companion, Ginny Lamb of Weston; nine grandchildren: Becky Farley, Jason and Mike Bragg, Troy and Kyle Cook, Cassi Gum, Brandi Stalnaker, and Stefanie and Ronda Snyder; eight grandchildren; two sisters: Jean Anderson of Clarksburg, and Grace Hughes and husband, Dave, of Lost Creek; two step siblings: Peggy Gilroy, and Kenny May; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Snyder.
Billy was employed as a truck driver for Harper Trucking and retired with 30+ years of service. He enjoyed taking Sunday drives, especially through the mountains in the fall to see the beautiful foliage. He always looked forward to their annual family vacation to Columbus, OH, and especially enjoyed visiting the zoo.
Billy’s request for cremation has been honored. Family and friends gathered at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew, from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017. A Celebration of Life Service followed at 7 p.m. from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Cindy Skinner officiating. Private interment will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
