Betty Louise Williams


Betty Louise Williams, 85, of Gooseman Rd. Jane Lew passed away at 5:34 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 in the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport following a brief illness.
She was born in Upshur County on March 6, 1931 a daughter of the late Roy Knicely and Martha Blankenship Knicely.
On February 3, 1950 she married Fred Junior Williams and they celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing on December 1, 2008.
Her strong, dedicated nature will be carried on by her four children: Margaret Sutton and husband, Ervin, of Jane Lew, Carolyn Jones and husband, Fred, of McWhorter, Lorraine Wiant and husband, Terry, of Morgantown, and Leonard Williams and wife, Patty, of Jane Lew; 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one sister, Mildred McCoy of Buckhannon; four brothers: Charles Knicely and wife, Peggy, of Jane Lew, Ralph Knicely of Buckhannon, James “Jim” Knicely and wife, Connie, of Buckhannon, and Olney Knicely and wife, Roberta, of OH; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Bob.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Herbert Williams (who passed away 3/6/1974); one brother, Robert Knicely; five sisters: Pauline Mayes, Elizabeth Marsh, Geraldine Bryant, and two infants; one granddaughter; and one great granddaughter.
Betty was a loving and devoted homemaker who enjoyed sewing, quilting, flower gardening, working jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She was a member of the Broad Run Baptist Church and enjoyed working in the nursery.
Friends and family gathered at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. Funeral Services followed at 1 p.m. from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Garavaglia officiating. Interment followed in the Broad Run Cemetery.
