Betty Jo Root

Betty Jo Root, 94, of Court Avenue, Weston, passed away at 4:18 p.m., on Monday, May 28, 2018, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, after residing at the Crestview Manor Nursing Home, in Jane Lew, for the last six months.
She was born in Clarksburg on May 9, 1924, a daughter of the late Fred Randolph and Pearl Davis Randolph.
In 1945, she married William Lewis Root and they celebrated 55 years of marriage before his passing on January 21, 2000.
She is survived by one daughter, Randi McKibben and husband, Michael, of Pittsburgh, PA; two grandchildren: Ashlee Lentini and husband, Michael of Pittsburgh, PA, and Tanner McKibben and wife, Lauren, of Pittsburgh, PA; four great-grandchildren: Harper and Dillon Lentini, and Sloane and Zac McKibben; and one brother, Fred Randolph of Montana.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, William Lewis Root II, who passed away last Thursday, May 24, 2018. They were close in life, having lived together in Weston for many years, and now they’re together in Heaven, as he was surely there to greet her as she arrived.
Betty graduated from Roosevelt Wilson High School in Clarksburg. She became a loving and devoted homemaker who enjoyed baking, quilting and especially reading, as she was a frequent visitor to the Louis Bennett Library. She later picked up golf and was an avid gardener who was famous for her beautiful cactus gardens, which were photographed for the local newspaper. She was quite talented and resourceful and even built her own deck and sun porch onto the house.
