This week’s Athletes of the Week are Senior Cheerleaders Sarah Goldsmith and Bailey Watson.
Goldsmith and Watson are coming to the end of their cheerleading careers at LCHS after having spent countless hours working on tumbling, stunts, technical cheer, and jumps since they began cheering at the youth level.
The Senior duo have both been cheerleaders for a long time with Goldsmith saying she had been at it for nine years and Watson adding that she’s been involved in cheerleading as long as she can remember. The girls got their starts as cheerleaders in youth sports in the county with Sarah starting in youth basketball and Bailey beginning her career in youth football in the county.
Goldsmith pointed to competition and fun as the most rewarding aspects of being a cheerleader and Watson agreed, and added the the she found tumbling to be the biggest challenge.
Goldsmith said that when she isn’t cheerleading or practicing she likes to go on outdoor adventures, and Watson said that she likes to go the dirt track races to watch her brother race.
After graduation both Sarah and Bailey plan to attended college and pursue a career in dental hygiene.
